AEA is proud to announce that we are now triple-certified across the company nationwide, following a comprehensive audit by SAI Global. This certification includes: ISO:9001 Quality, ISO:14001 Environment, and AS/NZS:4801 Health & Safety. During the process of obtaining the triple certification, we have seen many improvements to our internal systems including increased quality, efficiency and safety of our work. We have put these in place to help make the business better than ever. AEA is proud to have achieved these standards to a national level and commends Greg Foster (overall BMS), Shandel Coleman (safety) and Stuart Thurlow (environmental) for leading this work. This accreditation meets a strategic company objective, set by the Board last year. The commitment has included many hours of the Board and all staffs valuable time. Congratulations team!
We often get asked lots of questions around developing properties on potentially contaminated land. What’s the process? How much is it going to cost? When do I engage an auditor? How long does an audit take? And many more. So we created a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet which will help you understand how the industry works and potentially assist in planning for your next project. There are plenty more questions to be asked, so watch this space as AEA plans to host an information session for developers on this very subject. AEA hosted, yet again, another successful Superbowl party in Melbourne this week. It would have to be one of the best games in Superbowl history. Falcons were leading for majority of the game but the Patriots made a thrilling comeback pushing the final into overtime (the first in 51 years!) with the Patriots bringing home the win. Fans of NFL or not, AEA put on a great day with staff, clients, friends, suppliers and even some locals. The event was held at the Dick Whittington Tavern, where our guests enjoyed delicious American style food and beer, great company and a great atmosphere. The whole team at AEA hopes that guests had a great time in a post Christmas and New Years celebration and thanks everyone for their support in 2016. We look forward to working with you once again this year.
AEA Co-founder and Managing Director, Phil Hitchcock, has made the almighty move to Adelaide. Phil is an EPA/DER appointed/accredited auditor in SA and WA, so his recent move from his old haunt in the Hunter Valley to Adelaide was a no-brainer putting him in the heart of the action, midway between VIC and WA. He has only been in Adelaide for a few months and has already been sought for a number of audits and is certainly helping keep our Adelaide team busy. Phil’s focus there will be to help grow the business in both SA and WA with frequent visits to WA to support our Perth office. Phil is known as a crackerjack, legend and highly respected operator in the environmental auditing world with having completed hundreds of audits across the country. We wish Phil all the very best on this new adventure and hope you settle in nicely!

AEA recently hosted a successful stand at the EcoForum 2016 exhibition in Perth. It was an informative, practical, technical conference for: exchange of information on emerging contaminants, new techniques, studies on successful and unsuccessful projects, and insights into regulatory and industry improvements. The learnings that some of the team (that attended) brought from the sessions will continue to streamline our processes, add to our knowledge base and ultimately improve the services that we provide to our clients.
Another successful weekend bottling some of the best sparkling wine in the Hunter Valley (yes, we’re biased!). The AEA team from around Australia were invited to a team building weekend of bottling, labelling, wine/beer tasting, egg collecting, and of course feasting and fun. AEA Director, Phil Hitchcock, is an expert winemaker/crusher/fermenter, judge and connoisseur. We were all privileged to join him at his farm/winery to lend a hand. The sparkling was made using the Traditional Method. What’s that? Glad you asked. Traditional Method (or méthode traditionelle) is an official, technical term denoting a specific method and process associated with the production of Champagne and other bottle-fermented sparkling wines. A huge thanks to Phil for having us and to Scarlett for organising. Weather was perfect and company was great. Looking forward to tasting the sparkling when it’s ready!
