Ismail is a Principal Risk Assessor and an expert in conducting human health and environmental risk assessments (HHRA), environmental site assessment (ESA) and remediation works for developers, environmental auditors and consulting companies.
He has completed numerous HHRAs on retail service stations with hydrocarbons and sites contaminated with chlorinated hydrocarbons, metals, PAHs, pesticides and dioxins presenting risks through vapour exposure, groundwater migration and soil exposure. He also conducted HHRAs for remediation activities such as direct thermal desorption plant activity, land and bay excavations, contaminated stockpiles at the site and undisturbed contaminated fill. He has made contributions pertaining to risk assessment to sites subject to audit in Victoria, NSW, Queensland and WA under their respective accredited auditor schemes.
Ismail has expertise in environmental toxicology. In this area, he has a number of publications and experience. He has conducted numerous studies to assess the environmental impact of oil spill and drilling mud and their fate and remediation in the environment.
